with Bianca Sorrentino
As part of the “In-chiostro: tra note e parole” series, four cultural figures engage in dialogues paired with rare musical programs, exploring the theme of war and peace amidst the baroque cloisters of Martina Franca and the region’s historic farmsteads.
Beyond the wars fought by men—first boiling with blood and cries, then sanctified with medals and honors—there is a war with a woman’s face: mothers who survive their children, wives reduced to the spoils of victors, young girls robbed of their childhood. The ancients did not conceal these feminine wounds; rather, through the voices of epic and tragedy, they preserved them as testimony, as lasting symbols beyond a fleeting moment.
Bianca Sorrentino, writer and scholar of the classical world, an expert in the relationship between myth and contemporary arts, introduces the concert featuring works by classical composers and a world premiere by Paolo Marzocchi, performed by the singers of the Accademia del Belcanto “Rodolfo Celletti”.
