The Festival della Valle d’Itria is proud to announce its participation in the national campaign “R1PUD1A”, promoted by EMERGENCY, an initiative that reaffirms the principle enshrined in Article 11 of the Italian Constitution: “Italy rejects war as an instrument of offense against the freedom of other peoples and as a means of settling international disputes.”

This decision is perfectly aligned with the theme of the 2025 edition of the Festival, titled “War and Peace”, a cultural and musical exploration that seeks to raise awareness and encourage reflection on the global reality of conflict and the universal pursuit of peace.

Founded in 1994, EMERGENCY is an independent humanitarian organization that provides free, high-quality medical and surgical care to victims of war, landmines, and poverty. Over the years, EMERGENCY has worked in some of the world’s most conflict-affected regions—including Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Ukraine, and Palestine—developing a deep and direct understanding of the devastating human cost of war.

Through “R1PUD1A”, EMERGENCY invites cultural institutions across Italy—festivals, theaters, cinemas, libraries, and museums—to amplify the message of peace and help bring the principle of rejecting war back into public discourse, not only as a constitutional duty but as a moral commitment for future generations.

The Festival della Valle d’Itria, as a space of dialogue and artistic expression, embraces this call. Throughout the 2025 edition, several initiatives will be dedicated to supporting the campaign, affirming once again the power of music and culture to inspire critical thinking and civic engagement.

Because even art must take a stand. And it does so, with clarity and courage, in favor of peace.
