Included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2001, a timeless masterpiece, symbol of brotherhood, unity, peace, and joy, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony celebrates its 200th anniversary this year. On May 7, 1824, the Viennese audience crowded the Theater am Kärntnertor to hear for the first time what would become one of the most celebrated compositions in the history of music. The Festival della Valle d’Itria pays homage with a performance entrusted to the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari directed by Riccardo Frizza.
